Enough, Enough
"Enough, enough, enough," Professor Calcaño used to say. He was one of my dear teachers during the mid-twentieth century.
Has anyone counted the time and energy we consume talking about politics in these times? I have.
Those of us who use social media and have smartphones spend at least 3 to 5 hours of the day and night just doing that.
Has anyone found out the main reason why it is about so much politics? I have.
According to Dr. Hector Vizcarrondo, it is due to the attention-sucking effect of the narcissistic president; technology; the media, and of course other personal motivations that are solely ours. (see below).
Has anyone been interested in knowing how psychologists rate our neurotic attention on this topic? I have.
It is called, "personal disorientation", "lack of meaningful purpose", "distortion of reality". (at least from Existential Psychology)
Is anyone interested in knowing what the hell psychologists mean by all that string of grades? I am.
It is about abandoning our most basic human privilege, that is, how to be free and responsible in the strictest sense of being, the right to chose, responsibly, who we truly are.
Does anyone wonder why we fall into this abandonment of our most basic freedom and responsibility? I found out.
It is an overwhelming feeling of anxiety that we suffer for countless reasons. (see above)
Consequently, I resist letting my anxiety control my life and for that reason I claim and regain my sovereign freedom, saying:
Politics is not going to be the focus of my attention for 5 or 6 hours per day.
If you, my dear friends, who are reading these lines, decide to continue that neurotic path, then, go ahead that is your way of using your freedom too, but not being responsible. I want to do with those hours something useful and meaningful for me and humanity.
Whoever wants to follow me, I extend my hand, so that we can talk about anything else that feeds our souls, intellects, reason, and consequently life with a meaningful purpose.
